Keep Truckin’…

Another Friday is upon us ladies and gentlemen! Yesterday was my day off, I rode 7 miles on my bike (which had not seen the light of day in quite some time) spent a little time poolside with a book and I returned to the driving range with my husband and friends. I was really excited to go back and I think I did much better this time.

This entry is going to be short and sweet I’m afraid, I didn’t cook many interesting things this week and I’ve been super busy. I’m sorry about that. I’ll try to do something interesting so I will have some more stories next week! Mostly, I just keep truckin’ like the doo-da man. :)

Weigh In

Last Week Weight: 156lbs

This Week Weight: 157lbs

Difference of: +1lb

I feel like a yo-yo. After a huge 4.1lb loss last week, I’m not surprised to be up a little. I still think that large of a loss last week was a fluke.I’m a little bummed, not going to lie, but I am fully aware of why I gained. I didn’t move enough and I ate too much. That’s all their is to it.

High Lows

Highs

  • I found a new activity I enjoy that allows me to spend time with my husband and be active at the same time. Two things I never imagined would go together.
  • I ate fairly well this week and I tracked almost everything…well, after Monday-Thursday at least.
  • I rode my bike for the first time in ages. I felt like a kid again and I really enjoyed myself!
  • My sweet tooth has been out of control, but I have managed to stick to healthy sweets like my Strawberry Shortcake.

Lows

  • I am allowing work to get me too stressed out. This is going to lead to no good when things get even busier in the next few weeks. I have to find a way to let things slide off my back.
  • I failed at getting up and working out in the morning. I think I might have done it 1 working day. I have to get back on track because at the end of the day the last thing I feel like doing is working out.
  • I gained a pound. Boo.

I am looking forward to spending time with friends this weekend and having another day off on Sunday! I hope all of you with long weekends enjoy them!

What was your high and low of the week? I love hearing them!

Let’s put a cherry on top.

Friday. Let’s sum up a less than stellar week. I’ll start with weigh-in.

Weigh-In

Weight Last Week: 157.4lbs

Weight This Week: 160.1lbs

Difference of: +2.7lbs

I gained. I’m not shocked. It’s been a rough week for me and I’ve made no secret of that. Time to get back in control.

Training

I wish that I could say my exercise was on point this week, but that  would be a lie. I managed to do some, but not enough. To top off the kneerough week with a nice little cherry, yesterday I started my 4.5 mile run and around mile 2 I felt my knee begin to throb. I stopped and walked for a bit, started to run again and it was even worse. I rested, iced, compressed and elevated all afternoon and I’m still in quite a bit of pain every time it moves. I think it’s safe to say that my running is on hold for a little while. I am going to give it a few days before I make a decision about going to the doctor. I’ve had knee pain before, this is just a little different.

Cooking

I made a couple of really good things this week. Sunday’s Sweet Potato Salad and The Best Soup in the World. Last night I made a pita with cucumber sauce and used Quorn, but I didn’t document the recipe. I swear you can sub that for chicken in almost anything and it just works!

008 Food - White Bean and Spinach Soup 007 BBQ Quron Pizza 001

High/Lows

Lows

  • Let’s just start this off with Tuesday’s out of control Nuts-a-palooza binge.
  • New knee pain.
  • My activity level wasn’t great.
  • I gave into the “well, I’ve already blown it this week, why bother” mentality once or twice. I know, I know…that’s BS. I tell people regularly that that is BS, but I want to be honest. No excuses!
  • I didn’t track my food well at all.
  • It was a very hungry week.

Highs

  • I cooked some great food.
  • I had an amazing time with Kelly and her family for the birthday celebrations of birthday celebrations.
  • The comments and support I got from the blogging community regarding the binge was amazing. It feels so good to know I’m not alone in this thing.
  • I got to spend quite a bit of time hanging out with my husband over the past couple days. That is never a bad thing in my book.
  • I was honest about a very weak moment. I didn’t hide it in the trash can and act shocked about a weight gain. I talked about it openly and it made me feel as if I could regroup and move on. The old Tonyne would have totally acted as if it never happened and you guys would have never known.
  • I had a great lunch today with an old friend. I am starting to appreciate how precious life is. We only get one chance to do this. We should make the most of it.

Wrap it up Tonyne

Thank you guys for always commenting and reading regardless if I’ve had a good week or a bad week. We can’t win them all, they can’t all be good weeks. The bad weeks help us realize just how good the weeks are when everything just falls into place.

I hope you all have happy weekends!

What was your high and your low for this week? I would really like to hear about them!

I am human. Damn it.

I will start this blog with my weigh in, because I want to get it over with.

Today's weight: 163.4 / +2.2lbs from last week.

Am I shocked? Actually I'm kind of shocked it wasn't more.

Shocked you didn't gain more? Really? You don't say? Yes. I went off plan...all week. I didn't track, I ate pizza and burgers between the hours of 1am-3am in Savannah and other than walking around the city and one 3 mile run yesterday I have had little activity.

I came back from a fantastic vacation to find my husband sick, my dog sick, I found that I have developed allergies to pollen after 30 years of being allergy free. The house was a mess because the husband and the dog were sick, I had to sleep in the guest bedroom so I didn't get what my husband had. I couldn't unpack from my trip. I was exhausted from not sleeping well in Savannah. All of that added together made for a very lazy, poor eating me.

Did I also mention that I work for a Beach Vacation Rental Company as Maintenance Coordinator and this week starts our peak season and that for the next 4-5 months I will be working much like a Tasmanian Devil crossbred with a Whirling Dervish? Well, I will be. Imagine that in your heads.

You know how much I hate excuses and I'm sorry to give them to you. I feel like I've let you down.

But, you know what this has helped me to realize? I'm human. It happens to all of us. However when the husband says "You haven't tracked your food this week, like at all." I know it's time to reign it back in.

Today was going to be that day...but guess what? I went back to sleep after my 5am alarm went off.

*slaps forehead*

Tonight I will do some yoga...I probably need the stress relief along with the activity.

I will do my 7 mile run (which still has not been done) on Sunday. Monday I will resume the 5:20am wake ups. That is my plan. I am starting to feel the panic of loss of control in the back of my throat. Especially when I walk into my office this morning and find this!

The candy fairy struck. The whole cup is filled with jelly beans. I love jelly beans.

Here is my meal plan:

Meatless Monday - BBQ Quorn (vegetarian chicken like substance) Pita Pizza
Tuesday - Chicken Breast with Artichoke & Feta
Wednesday - Black Bean & Corn Chili
Thursday - Hungry Girl's Outside In Turkey Cheeseburger

Wish me luck reigning this puppy in. I know this isn't the typical motivational entry that I love to write...but like I said before. I am human. The same struggles you have, I have. The same inner battles you go through, I go through as well. This all just reminds me how far I have left to go.

That being said...I wish you all happy weekends if you have them and Happy Easter's if you celebrate it!

Major Tom to Ground Control

5'ish something o'clock wake up, Day 2: 5:40am.

I've been awake approximately 15 minutes. Today is not as smooth as yesterday. It's not bad. I just feel a little spacey. I didn't go to bed early enough last night, I may have hit snooze 3 times this morning. I'm going to try and stick with it though, on my work out days at least. I get to have coffee twice this way.

Weigh-in, 164.2, +2.3

It's bad news this week kids. I kind of saw it coming. First there was the food and booze festival that visiting my family always turns into and this week I couldn't get control of the snack monster. He sat on my shoulder almost every night this week "You know you want pudding, a graham crackers, and chocolate oh and don't forget some granola and yogurt!"

You know what though? I made a lot of positive changes this week, so I don't mind, I'm just going to focus on those.

1. I ran over 8 miles while visiting my family, I didn't quit my exercise just because I was on a mini-break.
2. I cooked some amazing food this week.
3. I found that waking up earlier means a better run!

So, I refuse to look at this as a bad week, even with the gain.

I have another recipe to share with you guys! Last night I made a Turkey Sausage & Lentil Pasta Stoup. It's stick to your ribs hearty and yummy! It's not very pretty to look at (I think that was this week's theme!) but it's comfort food to the MAX!

Turkey Sausage & Lentil Pasta Stoup

POINTS® Value: 8
Servings: 2

Ingredients

4 oz Louis Rich Smoked Turkey Sausage, chopped
1/8 cup(s) onion(s), diced
1/8 cup(s) carrot(s), chopped
1/3 cup(s) canned diced tomatoes
2 tsp garlic clove(s), minced
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 tsp table salt
3 oz Barilla Whole Grain Rotini
1/2 cup(s) dry lentils, rinsed and drained
2 cup(s) fat-free chicken broth, save 1/2 cup for later!

Instructions

Brown sausage in a sauce pan, add onion and cook until translucent. Add carrot and garlic and saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add chicken broth, rinsed lentils, diced tomatoes and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cover, allow to cook for 40-45 minutes or until lentils are fork tender.

Add pasta, remaining 1/2 cup of chicken broth and cook for an additional 20-25 minutes until pasta is tender.

I served with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. So tasty!

It's my last official weekend off and I think the husby and I are going to be lazy. We may go see Alice in Wonderland in 3D and I know some rented movies are on the plan. I will also FINALLY go to the grocery store! I miss fresh fruit and produce! However, as of tomorrow I will have made it 2 weeks without a single trip to the grocery store. I feel like I need a tee shirt. :)

I guess that's all she wrote! I have a date with some weights.

What are you big plans for the weekend?

Grumpy with a chance of Bitchy.

Photobucket

I'm not having a good week.

I'm up +2.1 lbs since Friday. Probably due in large part to Monday's binge.

I've eaten every single one of my Flex Points for the week and some of my activity points.

I'm grumpy with a chance of bitchy.

Work is stressing me out.

Life is stressing me out.

I didn't want to talk about this here, but I promised to share my triumphs and my frustrations. Well, I'm pretty frustrated.

We all have bad weeks. I know this. How come it's easier to cheer someone on during their bad week than keep yourself motivated and in good spirits during your own?

Let me try to find some positives.

I worked out this morning...and it's Wednesday. I went to the gym and did the Elliptical for 30 minutes. Take that, husband that falls asleep on the couch and ruins my Wednesday morning work out who incidentally did NOT sleep on the couch last night.

Even though I have eaten like a crazy possessed person I have logged everything. So my poor choices can be viewed for years to come.

I have made the meals according to my meal plan this week, even if none of them have knocked my socks off. This is helping put a dent in Operation Freezer.

I am more than halfway through the book I started over the weekend, My Sister's Keeper.

I have coffee.

That's all I got for today. I am totally blaming TOM. That f*cking f*cker.

What do you do when you are having an off day or week? How do you get out of the funk when all your usual tricks fail?

Are you ready for some football?

Weigh-in this morning: 166.2lbs +2.8lbs from last week. Of course, last week I had an uncharacteristically big loss (-3.5lbs) and I know I made terrible food choices and did a lot of mindless snacking in Greensboro. I think the combination of that explains (although does not excuse, I still stand by my "no excuses" policy) why I had a gain. I will buckle down this week. I am also going to buy a real scale. I've been weighing myself on the Wii Fit only, so I'm curious to see how a scale compares. Coupons.com has a $5 off a Weight Watcher Con-Air Scale coupon, so that will help!

I am setting a Mini-goal, that's not so "mini" to me.

Stay on track this weekend.

That's it. Track everything I eat and drink and stay on on-point. I can and will do this even if it takes using all of my Flex Points. Did I mention my husband is a bartender? We always go to his bar for Super Bowl and they have a big party with loads of booze, food, shots and friends. It's going to be tough, but I know I can do it. Right while typing that, I heard the ESPN Sports Center jingle.

Weekend plans for me:

Tonight: Go see Dear John with my friend Kelly. Sneak snacks into movie theater. Come home, meal plan for next week while catching up on my DVR'ed shows.

Saturday: Chaser The Wonder Schnauzer goes to the Vet, then it's shopping for Super Bowl party stuff and groceries with the husband. Have no idea the plans for tomorrow evening but I'm sure they will be laid back since we will be out on Sunday.

Sunday: I have a 3 mile run in the morning and then I am going to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch before heading up to the bar for the Super Bowl! This year I'm mostly just excited about the commercials, but if I have to pick a team, it's probably going to be The Saints!

What should I sneak into the movies tonight? I know I'm going to sneak in a 100 Calorie bag of Pop Corn...anything else? What's your favorite movie snack?

Happy Friday everyone!

Disappointment Induced Insomnia

Saturday I got on my Wii Fit to try out my new Wii Fit Plus game that I got for Christmas. I got the new game all set up, making sure to set Chase up a Mii character since there is now a section that monitors your pet's weight as well. After all that was done I decided to check my weight.

Let me preface here by saying that I haven't been on a scale since mid-November. I knew what I was doing, I knew my pants were getting tighter. I knew I wasn't being as good as I should have been.

Ok, so the Wii Fit Plus game carries over all of your stats from the original Wii Fit (pretty nifty, it eliminates your need for the original disc) and much to my surprise (really Tonyne? REALLY? You're shocked? You ate the world for 6 weeks for the love of Matthew McConaughey's bongos!) it tells me that while still in the "Overweight" category (barely) that I am +8.8lbs since the last time I weighed in.

That's right folks...read it clear +8.8lbs.

Now, you would think the shock of such a discovery would send me right back into the world of healthy living as soon as possible, correct? Especially with the way I preach the "indulge, not too much and the next meal is always a chance to reign back in control". Yeah, I should have followed my own advice. Instead I continued to eat on Sunday and even to a lesser degree today.

So here I am, up at midnight when I should be sound asleep in my bed, stressing over a weight gain. I know what needs to be done to get it off, now it's time to put my good talk to good use.

I am making this promise to you now: on Tuesday, er, later today, I will track my food. Regardless if I go over points, I will track. I will run my 4 mile training run and I will reign this puppy in.

*deep breath* Ok Self: The holidays are essentially over, New Year's eve is at your home, you are in control of food, waiting until the 1st is not an option, indulging in a treat or two once or twice a week is ok, indulging in one or two treats once or twice a day is not. Now, you have a plan, you know what to do...stop obsessing and GO TO BED! *deep breath*

"why wait for tomorrow, with what you could do today?"
